Candy Boys
An inspiring work of unprecedented magnitude, chronicling the struggles, conflicts, and ultimately triumphs of some people what do stuff. Also, some Brisbane kids talk about Dance Dance Revolution a bit.

Dust. Everywhere! DUST.
I have a bag of Replay tokens gathering dust and corrosion. In the last seven months I have not played DDR - mostly due to the on-set of summer, and then due to blasted WORK not being very helpful (I was always playing in the city, but now my common pathway is work-home-work-home-friend's place-home-rinse-repeat. Whenever I'm in the city I'm usually nowhere near the right places or dash in to do something and then dash out again (I hate the city, now! It's so goddamned CROWDED).
The other day I listened to the DDR 6th and 7th mix OSTs, and that brought back some nostalgia. Never really broke that Std:Heavy barrier. I was nibbling at it, back when I was in top form. If I started up again it'd take some massive work to get back in the groove!
Will be down in Sydney for a week; if the opportunity presents, I might check out the arcades there and maybe see some strangers in action!

And Then There Were NONE.
I swear, if those other two don't post something in here sooner rather than later I'm going to rename this place
Candy*Grrl and hideify the entire layout.
With stripes.
BRIGHT stripes.
Team player Panic has shifted butt down south to Sydney; last I heard he
intended to get back into DDR, but instead of slaying himself on Heavy he's going to regress to Standard and rediscover the joy of playing singles/doubles and non-stop courses for
FUN.
Otherwise, it's too fucking hot to DDR in Brisbane right now.
Also,
here there be EViL.

Good grief, the dust in here!
Looks like too much of a good thing *is* possible.

Finally recovering from an upper respiratory tract infection. Probably won't be DDRing anytime soon because of it too! So unfit now, it's not funny. I mean, c'mon - I used to be able to dash up the stairs from the North Quay CityCat two at a time without losing my breath or heart-rate and now it's all *OMGI'mgonnadie!* after doing the two-step dash.

Want some Cheap Gamin'?
The Brisbane Anime Society is going to be booking a two hour gaming session at Replay where you can play *anything* (except for ticket-games to redeem prizes), all for the bargain price of $14 (which works out to roughly paying for 36 tokens, which can be used up in less than 45 minutes if you play the right games).
For more info, please visit this link:
http://www.brisbaneanime.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=241&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0.
Booked in for April 4, it will run form 8am to 10am, which gives everyone an hour to get around to BAS afterwards which has the new and improved starting time of 11am.
You must either PM or email me your name and the name of your friends if you/they are coming! If we do not get 20 people by Saturday 6pm then I will cancel it and put a post here advising everyone.
At least 20 of you must meet me there at the front at 7:45 am to pay or else I will cancel it at 7:50am because the club can not afford to make up the difference.
This offer is not restricted to BAS members or people who attend screenings (although they get preference), so if you have friends who would want to come then let them know so we can make up the numbers.

Damn You All!
Well, more specifically, the other Candy*Boys, yeah why am I the only one who ever posts in here anymore!?
Anyways, I passed Butterfly on Heavy on Tuesday; Go me! But am badly, BADLY out of shape and practice in regards to DDR. Songs I know I can get through with no trouble I completely flubbed; and some Heavy songs I tried which I would've lasted for a while before I died well... that was a short, short game... =_='

2 Steps Forward, 3 Steps Back
Played today with Panic after a month of not.
Got my best score yet on "Look to the Sky" Std. (only 2 misses! I'm aiming for consistently less than 5 misses on all my songs, rather than how many Perfects or Greats... though really, I should be working on my accuracy as well, ne?). Every other song after that was a blaaaah. Didn't even last 30 seconds on "Cutie Chaser" Hard (and it's only a 5 footer!).
Brain not in the zone. Brain tired. Brain completely assed!!

So Dirty...
Today I played. Today I sucked.
That is all.
Aside from fruitloops! And oh! I got to see Full-Combo Joel in action after not seeing him around for ages so that was pretty kewl; and met some new guy called Paul who thinks he's crazy and insane in regards to DDR... heh.
He don't know the *meaning* of the word; obviously hasn't met some of the other guys from RTF/LoS yet!
Very nice and friendly bloke though, so say hello. Um. He has short darkish dullish brown hair and a small chin-rug beardy thing going. He also knows Sergio.
Mangaguru "I stomp in Heavy!" is now nibbling at 9-10ft songs. And is starting to play on the right-hand side of the stage so now we can look forward to the sensors on that side getting wrecked for the light-weight steppers (LIKE ME!!!).
Looking forward to the winter.
OOOH! I also slogged myself through a Heavy-mode nonstop course with Panic and had much much fun! Strangely enough Dam Dariram on Heavy made sense (no modifiers) but yeah, just couldn't keep up the pace with the rest due to pattern unfamiliarity and arrow dyslexia. Butterfly continues to be the only Heavy song I've tried that I can pass. I think...
Need to go back to Light mode and work on some non-stop accuracy. And stamina. Haven't gone walking for *ages!*

I Played for Six Hours Straight!
...and have monkeys with flamin' swords comin' outta my butt.
It's too hot to DDR. Go away...

So Small It's Microscopic...
But I don't care! I DID IT!!! I finally got my first goddamn "A" in freakin' Standard mode (but I still missed one stinkin' step) on my favorite song, "Look to the Sky" wearing dodgy slip-on sneaker-clog things which have elastic strap bits at the back. Yeah. Not the best grip/fit for DDR but AAAH! I did it!
Now I just have to get past my stupid ceiling/block...
* We are happy preciousnessessss... ^___^

And In Other News
Shoujo posted on the Candy*Boys Blog today, which is an amazing occurrence. Or some shit. The contents of the post were as follows :
I've been through a spate of not DDRing because of illness or no cash. Now I have a regularly paying (although the quantity of that amount varies) job, but I haven't been DDRing properly. Reasons include, wanting to spend money on other items, being incredibly buggered after a day of heaving AV equipment around (current record 800kg of televisions in one hour), buggered after two days of heaving AV equipment around, buggered after a week of heaving AV equipment around.
Oh the humanity!!
At anyrate, it's all good. I did have a crack at some 6 foot Heavies last night. I passed with a B. Not too shabby. Now I just need a girlfriend to tell me that DDR is a very unnatractive waste iof time for geeks, and to provide me with another mechanism of getting broke, sweaty and exhausted.
He followed this incredible feat by exclaiming, "ARRGHHHH!!!!! Cute girls wearing sundresses in the MALL!!! ALL THE TIME NOW!!!! ARGGGHHAHHAGGHGHHGHHHH!!!!"
